Wonderful Camden food blogger ‘More Than Leftovers’ has some lovely words to say about The Crown and Goose. Call us biased but we had the fish and chips for lunch and have to agree.

Visit the blog here

The Crown & Goose in Camden Town is awesome. I’ve always liked it as a boozer but have only started eating there of late (I think it used to be more expensive and the price put me off). After an insanely hectic media campaign in January, my colleague was kind enough to take me for lunch in the Crown & Goose. Tired from running around news stations, the hearty bulk slipped into my belly a treat. Now readers of this blog will know I’m a Pollock champion – the fish is chunky-good, cheap and sustainable. So Crown and Goose served me up with a giant piece of salt’n’pepper battered Pollock with chips and it was immense. Impressed by my feed, I took the monster to the Goose for a bite. This time, I had venison burger with brie and red currant jam and o h m y g o d it was amazing! A third trip to this mighty establishment saw me consume exactly the same burger. What can I say? Should I be embarrassed by burger devouring? I say no when a burger tastes that good!

Returning to the Crown & Goose for the Monster’s birthday, I met a long-term school friend and chattered for hours, missing the food round and looking on at venison plates and Pollock with bitter envy. A fun night was had by all and the monster was so popular, pulling in such a boisterous crowd of food and drink loving nearly-30 reprobates, that the roof collapsed. And I’m not joking. I’ve not been back since but my hairdresser was there the other day. He reassured me that the burger was as good as before. Care to join me?
